USANA takes the science of Sens very seriously!
Hi Group
In a few weeks many of you will be on the convention floor excited, rushing from one event to another and taking notes like crazy. As each years convention is about to start it is only natural that I hope for something exciting to happen or be announced regarding our wonderful Sens line of products. While I have no idea at this time if this is the year or not I thought I would give you something to think about regarding a little background on the development of Sens. For our new members to USANA this might be something they have not heard yet, for long time members, maybe you need to be reminded of what it took to have these products in your hands.
The reason I wish to refresh your memory of the information below was a question I was given a few weeks ago. Why am I so against home made products? Other than the idea of a well meaning persons lack of knowledge of skin science, their lack of knowledge of what ingredients do and how pure they really are and what skin level are they intended for or not intended for. How do they formulate to make sure ingredients go where intended? I also have something that no one seems to consider; where they are making their products and the tools they use (maybe the pot they made spaghetti in the night before), would their tools, their area be approved by Health Canada or the FDA as a clean environment? Do they own a cat? Remember cats climb and walk on counter tops. Do they have kids and other people running through their area while cooking their product? In other words would it even come close to a cosmetic lab that is expected to keep in mind the safety of the consumer? Not any I have seen. or heard about, that are considered home based natural cosmetics. We dont even know how their supply of ingredients are kept or checked. So why would I even begin to think a natural product made in someones kitchen is safe, or the person is qualified to even make a skin care product that their knowledge is nothing more than following a suggested recipe from some Internet site.
I think the best way for everyone to understand my passion on not buying so called safe all natural products from a home made situation is to help you realize why USANA takes the science of Sens very seriously!
Many different USANA Scientists (and their teams) were involved in the design and development, manufacturing of all our products. This included Chemistry, Biochemistry, microbiology, molecular modeling, engineering, formulation science, technical packaging, toxicology, quality assurance specialists and consumer affairs professionals. Further to help our understanding; the specific role of the toxicologists is to design and interpret the tests that assess the safety of the Sens products and their ingredients.
So lets look at the rolls of all these scientists specially trained in their rolls:
Toxicologists, who evaluate ingredients and finished products to establish their safety for consumers during usage.
Microbiologists, who establish product preserving and monitor manufacturing to ensure finished product integrity.
Analytical Chemists, who perform chemical evaluations of ingredients and finished products, to determine purity and other properties.
Formulators, who develop the new and improved products and set product standards and specifications.
Science Information Specialists, who retrieve information including science articles and patents, relevant to products development and safety,
Manufacturing engineers, who develop manufacturing procedures and oversee product of the final self-preserved products.
Technical Packaging Specialists, who create improved ways of applying, dispensing and packaging our self-preserved products.
Quality Assurance Specialists, who ensure that all products meet all labeling requirements and are in compliance with all governmental regulations?
Consumer Affairs Professionals, who conduct consumer research and testing prior to product marketing and track issues that may arise following product marketing.
Yes there is a lot that goes on behind those lab doors at USANA making sure every dot or drop of our Sens products we use and sell are the best of the best. We are very proud of every Sens and Hair Care product you use and recommend. Most of all we know they are safe and designed as intended. Sens is science in perfect balance with the beauty of nature!
Now is it that hard to understand why I would not feel comfortable suggesting to any consumer to buy home made products. Why I would never even suggest attending a local Fair that offers home made products. But, should you like to go, take this document and ask them who is their formulator, Toxicologists, Microbiologists, Science Specialists, what tests do they do for long term exposure to ingredients, skin irritation, skin allergies, photo allergy, genotoxicity, or negative effects to fetal development, and what is their delivery system (if they even know what you mean by that)? Most of all how clean is their environment where they make their products. How safe are their containers to ingredient exposure to air or light? Do they have a license to make products for others, and how often does Health Canada or FDA (USA) check their manufacturing facility.
Now, I think you might understand why I do not like products that are made at home and sold to others!
Have a Sens-tional Day!
